Congratulations to the award winners in Plein Air Painters of New Mexico’s “Paint New Mexico” show at Weems Gallery in Albuquerque. Judge Paul Murray announced the awards during a reception and awards ceremony at the gallery on June 1, 2024.
The awards were:

- Second Place: Jane Frederick, “Santa Fe River 2,” 11×14 inches, oil
- Third Place: Kat Hansen, “Monastery Road Turn Off,” 11.75×15.7 inches, pastel
- Magdalena Award of Distinction: Deborah Paisner, “Josie’s Abode,” 11×14 inches, oil
- Award of Excellence: Arlene Tugel, “Behind First Street—Magdalena, NM,” 9×13 inches, watercolor
- Artist’s Choice Award: Rachel Pearson, “Sun Salutation,” 12×12 inches, oil
- Special Judge’s Recognition: Karen Halbert, “Ghost Ranch Cabin,” 9×12 inches, oil

The 80 paintings in the “Paint New Mexico” show were produced during a statewide paint-out between May 10-23. The show then hung at Weems Gallery in Albuquerque from June 1-23.
